"Warm the World" blanket drive.

This past Sunday a good friend of mine Marlyn Hermosillo, held an event for her “Warm the World” blanket drive at a nice South Bay bar that she bartends at called Southland. Her goal is to be able to collect at least 200 blankets by January 16th, so that she and her team (I included) can pass them out to the less fortunate in the skid row area of Downtown LA. Then soon after, donate the remainder to orphanages in Mexico.  At the event she welcomed money and blanket donations.  The owner of the bar was actually gracious enough to donate a percentage of the drink earnings to the cause also! She raffled off prizes at the end and did a superb job of balancing her time on the clock as well as being a great host who kept the party going. Be sure to visit her site www.quiltedhugs.org to help in the beginning attempts to warm the world one blanket at a time.  You can donate as much or as little as you desire, as every little bit does indeed help! She also accepts paypal.  Below is a photo of the blankets she received in addition to collecting $300 to purchase the rest on her own! Thanks to all who attended, donated or are donating their time, it is beyond appreciated.

Marlyn has been fortunate enough to have traveled a large portion of the world and in doing so, also felt compelled to start a non profit to involve others in helping her live by one of her favorite Ghandi quotes, " you must be the change you wish to see in the world".
